Best Dvorak 9th

Ignore the other reviews which complain about it being too fast. That is precisely why this recording soars above all others. It keeps the momentum going from beginning to end. I grew up on the Reiner version, and was blown away by this one. As another reviewer suggested, music is very subjective. While some may have grown up on slower versions of this piece and cannot get used to the faster performances, Paray’s performance worked for me. It’s now my go to recording for this work. George Szell is slower in this one, but he is known for breakneck speeds in other works (Schubert 9, for example). So, give it a listen, and hopefully you’ll love this one too. The Sibelius was okay, but I will admit that this work never made much of an impression on me. Get this CD for the Dvorak.
