Awesome performance of a romantic masterpiece
Sorry Bryan (Leech), but there are two versions of this symphonic poem (one is the partition by Alexander Gauck) and Svetlanov has performed and recorded both! His recording published by Melodyia (74321170982) include the full version (58 min). So it is wrongful to degrade his note for that reason. The choice of a shorter version is… fully assumed. For my part, I have both versions by Svetlanov. I have heard this version in public performance in Paris (France) where the Svetlanov was discovered by Europeans, and I can tell you this one is that I preferred. And the public, with standing ovation, did not make a mistake either! Sure, it’s an awesome interpretation of the “short” version of this great piece!
