  1. Perhaps his most famous interpretation, because it is exemplary of his conducting style. Westminster released it in conjunction with the 6th Symphony. Finally someone who does not necessarily want to make all the subtleties of the composition audible at all costs, and rather follows the prescribed tempo. And of course he also takes the risks that such a tempo holds. Later, many conductors followed him – not least Leibowitz shortly thereafter. This is exactly what I love about interpretations of the Hammerklavier Sonata or the Appassionata. Courage to take risks must also be shown here in order to hit the prescribed key. Here it is also about presenting an impetus. Driving forces that always start anew from gigantic setbacks in order to reach a goal.
