One of today’s most sought-after quartets worldwide, the French Ébène Quartet (Pierre Colombet and Gabriel Le Magadure on violins, Mathieu Herzog on viola, and Raphaël Merlin on cello), formed in 1999, is regularly praised for its mastery, elegance, density, complicity, andspirit. Not many of us, i am afraid, will tell the difference :oops:
I am a great fun of string quartets (easier to follow different instruments).. Actually when i first discovered “Boxset” my goal was to collect all quartets available.. Haydn, WAM, LVB – obvious choice for beginner.. I love Schostacovitch quartets.. But Faure? This must be from a Higher Class :roll: No?
Great music. But I think that it is incorrect to place String Quartet by Gabriel Faure between Ravel and Debussy. Late Faure is absolutely another musical world than Ravel and Debussy.
