Colorless sound? Not!

I love this recording. The reviewer who said the sound was colorless must not have been listening through a Nakamichi CD player. Well, whatever. Anyway, don’t let the 3 1/2 stars scare you. Everyone has their own opinion. I just disagree with this person’s. I would heartily recommend this CD, unless you seem to go along with the outlines of what this reviewer had to say. Now I’ll speak from my gut. It’s too bad that some people have some kind of criteria that God could not meet. Well, in this case, nothing is good enough for them. This is a beautiful recording with so much feeling that I am mesmerized every time I listen to it. The gems in the various parts of the various movements make each of the works sparkle. Believe me, it’s a keeper and a lover. For my soul, the middle movement of the 3rd symphony is in a class by itself; and the lithe flourish at the end of the third movement of the same symphony with the rushing bombast right after it don’t make me want to look for any other rendition of this work, rather, they thrill me to the core. Thanks for reading, cheers’

  1. Thanks.

The Rachmaninov symphonies aren’t personal favorites of mine but Maazel’s modern and rather less romantic way with this music is interesting to listen to.
