Performance is excellent. After repeated listening
Definitely worth listening. The pieces are tuneful and interesting. Performance is excellent. After repeated listening, one could perhaps understand why Kalinnikov is not better known. There is a lack of depth when you get past pleasant melodies. This is not Tchaikovski, or not even Rachmaninov. But still, once in a while it would be refreshing to be reminded that there are many other lesser known composers that deserved to be heard, even though perhaps not as often as the masters. I would highly recommend this, especially if you like Russian music, or perhaps even Dvorak. You won’t regret, at least I did not.
