The title “Jolanta Smolska. Nowe kroki – Inkubacja” (“Jolanta Smolska. New Steps – Incubation”) is the call sign of a musical statement and verbal legitimization of the existence of “here and now” as a decisive value. Incubation is an announcement of the creative process, from which subsequent pieces emerge as musical components. The album itself is a consequence of an idea that stemmed from my collaboration – as a composer – with great artists from Łódź: flautist Ewelina Zawiślak, cellists Agnieszka Kołodziej and Małgorzata Smyczyńska-Szulc, and pianist Agnieszka Przybylska.

A fruitful addition to the contemporary Polish chamber music. The pieces making up the six-step whole are the result of Jolanta Smolska’s compositional work of the last two years. The performance binder is the oscillation between the diversity of the sound layers of three instruments that appear alternately, enclosed in the formula of a trio or duo. It is difficult to predict which of the proposals will inspire the listener the most at a given moment. Nevertheless, we were strongly motivated by the idea of reaching the recipient’s emotions. Nowadays, it is this bond with the recipient of art, including musical art, that we need even more consistently than before. The present recording is an attempt to construct an additional place that should be as friendly as possible to both the artist and the listener – the recipient of the artist’s work.
