Regal and precise, elegant but not overly Romantic

This is one of the best interpretations. No offense to ladies but I found all female pianists did poorly on Mozart Concertos. Of course some famous male pianists are terrible too, But not Daniel. Just listen to the K382 which was most treasured by Mozart himself. It reveals so many details with perfect tempo. His playing is measured , sentimental but not overly emotional. The surface seems well structured and balanced and the inner has more dynamic and changing elements. If you think Mozart should not sound like either a Baroque or a Romantic composer but something in between you will like his interpretation.

  1. I have this old vinyl set, which I loved and found the best ever. I also have the full set with Brendel and Haebler, Uchida, and partial sets with Perahia, Kempff, Pollini, and even Heith Jarret and Gulda. I also have 26-27 woth Barenboin and the Berliner. As a full set this is the best. I am not familiar with Pires (I am sure I should listen to her) but there are individual concertos I prefer listening 3-4 interpretations at a time (like K-488 with Kempff, Haebler, Perahia and Barenboim). What can I say, I love WAM, and Barenboim is probably at his best in this set.

  2. seems you like Mozart as I do (well, most people do) tip – you should check those concertos with Eugene Istomin on piano …

    Enjoy the music

  3. A big thanks for this set, whatever. I have the complete set of Mozart Concertos with Geza Anda, and on CDs with Murray Perahia.

I love Mozart in abundance; thanks for adding to my pleasure.

  4. I waited for this great reupload.Your will never find the first four concertos so magnificently played as this one with the ECO. Whatever they say about Barenboim,he remains the pianist to look out for.
