This new release from the Leading Polish label – DUX present a continuation of Krzysztof Penderecki’s chamber works series; this time it is dedicated exclusively to the cello, which can be heard both solo and in a broader ensemble. Penderecki’s predilection towards the Baroque and the Romanticism is also revealed in the discs main work, the Suite for cello solo. The dance movements are often deprived of the characteristic for their genre, rhythmic structures, which the composer consciously omits. The work is comprised of eight contrasting movements written over the period of nineteen years (1994-2003).
