Im blown away by not only the technical mastery of her playing, but by the remarkable expressivity with which she realizes the works.

Hailed as a very accomplished and sensitive musician, Melisande McNabney returns with her latest album, Fantasias, performed on fortepiano.

Fantasias includes works by Bach, Mozart, Kozeluch, and two improvisations by McNabney herself after C.P.E. Bach.

The album was recorded on a fortepiano made in 2019 by Rodney Regier, after an instrument by the 18th-century Viennese maker Anton Walter.

The concept of fantasy has a long history in music, and keyboard instruments are its main conduits. In the 18th century, composers were not only also performers, but also improvisers who would deploy their creative spirit for the public in real time by extemporizing on the keyboard.

The award-winning Melisande McNabney plays keyboard music of all periods on harpsichord, piano, and fortepiano. In 2015 she received third prize at the International Competition Musica Antiqua in Bruges, Belgium. Very active on the concert scene, Melisande was invited as a soloist in series such as Clavecin en Concert or the Serie Jacques Dansereau at Bourgie Hall.

As a chamber and orchestra musician, she is regularly invited to play with Les Violons du Roy, Arion Orchestre Baroque and the Montreal Bach Festival Orchestra. She is a member of Pallade Musica and ensemble Les Songes.

In 2019, Melisande released her debut solo album, Inspirations. Well received by critiques worldwide, the recording received 5 Diapasons from the famous French magazine.
