Victor Herbert was an Irish-born, German-raised composer who moved to America to find fame as a cellist, conductor and composer. He is best known for his successful operettas that premiered on Broadway from the 1980s to World War I and earned popularity through his entertaining music. However, he was a keen cellist and CPO is pleased to present a selection of irresistible cello works performed by Maximilian Hornung.
Maximilian Hornung is first principal cellist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and is supported and sponsored by the Anne-Sophie Mutter Circle of Friends Foundation for young extraordinary gifted string players.
