For its first recording project, ‘Cuando el fuego abrasa’ (When the fire burns), the Ensemble Bayona presents the hallmarks of the group’s identity: the fruitful and close Spanish-Swiss collaboration and the promotion and dissemination of music from the early 20th century. That is why the works of contemporary composers Francisco Coll (Spain) and Christoph Blum (Switzerland) are coupled with two works from the beginning of the last century: El amor brujo by Manuel de Falla (arranged for quintet and cantaora by José Luis Turina) and in collaboration with the University of Lausanne, a historical recovery of the Quintet on Swiss Themes by Joseph Lauber. Superb ensemble playing and intense performances provide the opportunity to discover this deeply engaging works!
