katia ricciarelli; an outstanding liu

I bought this cd and when the vhs of the same came out, I wanted to own that too. I was disappointed with the visuals but not the singing. Everyone was excellent, but Katia Ricciarelli was outstanding as Liu. Her Signore ascolta moved me to tears. I found the costumes very ugly and distracting however. Jose Carreras was also outstanding in all his arias. All in all, a very worthy effort by the entire case, including Ping, Pang, and Pong. I would have given this a 5 star rating were it not for the bizarre costumes.
