This CD is dedicated to violin sonatas by Ludwig Thuille, interpreted by Elisabeth Eibensteiner and Marlies Nussbaumer, who is playing the piano. Thuille was born in Bolzano in 1861, he was a close friend of Richard Strauss and he, also, worked as a professor for harmonica and composition at the Royal Conservatory in Munich. He became famous with his standard work for harmonica rehearsals (the “Thuille-Louis”), his compositions are still not well known – unjustly, as this recording proves.
