  1. If not the “100 Greatest Recordings of All Time” That’s very near. A great great choice ! Thank you !!
Better than the poor collection “the 100 best …” from EMI classics (see next posts) where none of the artists are quoted.

  2. This is a wonderful cross-section of music history and music performance. I subscribed to this series back in the ’70’s and still have many of the vinyl albums. This conversion to digital bespeaks a huge amount of work — in real time. However, sadly, many (if not most) of the stereo tracks have the channels reversed. In classical music that DOES matter. If the 1st violins aren’t on the left…something is wrong. I’ve checked these against equivalent CD’s and against the original Franklin Mint vinyl, and it is absolutely true that the channels are reversed.

      1. Thank you. Yes I had found the skip in Beethoven Sym 1, also. The set numbers I have found with reversed channels in the original set are: 8. 38, 39, 43, 58, 59, 60, 61, 63, 66, 70, 71, 74 and 83 (FYI). In Vol. 8 only the Casals is reversed.

        1. I am downloading Vol.8 and I guess it would be straight-forward to switch the reversed channels with a tool like ffmpeg:
          ffmpeg -i “in.flac” -map_channel 0.0.1 -map_channel 0.0.0 “out.flac”

  3. Thank you too.
I just discovered Falla’s Three Cornered Hat by Frühbeck de Burgos. Even if the stereo balance is sometimes clumsy, it’s the interpretation that is so stunning. Cool tempi in speed, but strong in energy and so supportive of great melodic and harmonic phrasing. I began to listen to details in this music that are usually skipped by others. Great pleasure.

  6. Would you be so kind as to see about the 2nd part of LP 81 (Handel – “Messiah”), please? The record can’t move forward (some place in the middle of). I’d be most grateful if you could present a corrected version of – thanks a lot in advance.

  7. I have been listening to these Woodchucker rips this weekend on my big rig and I must say that they sound excellent! Don’t miss out on these, folks.
