Mozart’s Violin Concertos require tremendous practice, a great deal of virtuosity, and are part of every significant violinist’s repertoire. A growing number of musicians specialize in 18th century music and perform on rare, period instruments. This album has been compiled in the same fashion: it offers three concertos and three similarly nonchalant compositions played by Capella Savaria, hailed by the Canadian Opus Magazine as ”one of Europe’s best ensembles.” Founded in 1981, in Szombathely, Capella Savaria has earned its fame as the first period-instrument chamber orchestra of Hungary. The ensemble’s objectives were, from the onset, to play Baroque and Classical music in an authentic way by relying on genuine documents of the period.
