20. Falling
We are so excited and thrilled to finally reveal this project, which we have been imagining and developing for months… « Nos 4 saisons », our four seasons! We heard The Four Seasons for the first time before we even knew how to talk, and the sound of the violin is one of our first memories. It’s as if we always knew we would return to this repertoire one day, that we would happily dive back into our childhood. Vivaldi has laid the foundations of all modern music with his work, and if you listen well, you find his harmonies in all of today’s pop music. With this album, we built our own bridge between classical music that made us grow and the song that has soothed us for a long time. It was obvious for us to record these four seasons together, as sisters, with our common vision of the work.” – Camille & Julie Berthollet
In parallel with The Four Seasons, we composed four songs freely inspired by fragments of each of The Red Priest’s seasons. We were fortunate to have the immense joy and honour of inviting three talented authors, who offered us sublime and quite unique texts.
The fourth piece, called « Regard d’été » (“Summer Look”), we composed, arranged, and wrote ourselves, so it’s a very personal song.
A few words about the four songs that follow The Four Seasons… Ycare imagined for us this text about twin souls, two voices that come from the same star. It was startling to see how accurately and naturally he understood the strength of the bond that unites us. Joyce has taken up her pen to talk about women and this strength that is theirs, ours – it’s truer and more important than ever today. Foé invented a timeless poem about love, a « Crash d’amour », and his words touched us instantly. It was upon leaving the stage one evening that Julie wrote « Regard d’été », and this piece is now here, on our album, as the testimony of a moment, a feeling. It was difficult to close such a personal album, so we decided to record four additional tracks.
These are three movements of Vivaldi’s L’estro armonico – which we have loved ever since we started playing violin – as well as a free and modern invention that we created with Laurent Marimbert, inspired by the harmonies of a passage from the “Spring” of The Four Seasons.
This album is, for us, the fulfilment of a project we have had in our hearts for a long time. It was a magical feeling to record these notes that have never left us. We hope to simply convey our emotions and that our creations will also tug on others’ heartstrings. This text too must come to an end, and now the album is yours; use it well. It no longer belongs to us. We wish it a wonderful life, because the music is extraordinary and crosses borders and time. It brings souls together
