September 4, 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of Anton Bruckner’s birth. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will celebrate that landmark by playing his symphonies Nos. 1 to 9 within a year and a half, under the direction of nine renowned conductors. However the project will kick off with a look into the glorious past of the orchestra’s Bruckner tradition with the release of a 9CD box set featuring (mostly unreleased) first rate recordings of the finest recorded live performances of the nine numbered Bruckner symphonies since the early 1970s. The box set will be available in a limited edition and will be distributed digitally as nine separate (full length) albums.
