Paganini & Koshkin is the second Melodiya album for guitarist Artyom Dervoed. It captures his long-term collaboration with composer Nikita Koshkin.
The album combines Megaron, a four-movement concerto for guitar and string orchestra by Nikita Koshkin, and Grande Sonata by Niccolò Paganini arranged by Nikita Koshkin for quartet.
Artyom Dervoed won international recognition when he became the first Russian to win two prestigious international competitions at once – the Michele Pittaluga Classical Guitar Competition in Italy and the Infanta Cristina International Guitar Competition in Spain. Over his competing career, he received prizes of thirty-six competitions.
Megaron by Nikita Koshkin was performed in Kazan in November 2017 together with Kazan chamber orchestra La Primavera conducted by Rustem Abyazov, one of Russia’s best chamber ensembles.
Alexei Lundin, Kirill Semenovykh, and Daniil Shavyrin, artists of the renowned chamber orchestra Moscow Virtuosi, took part in the recording of the quartet.
