viewing the new recording on its own terms, there’s much to admire. Weithaas, a particularly thoughtful violinist, subtly makes us aware of the Viennese waltz rhythms that pervade the latter part of the Berg’s first movement…These are distinctive, considered performances, well worth hearing.
