Ryan Carter’s works have been frequently performed by America’s finest ensembles and soloists for a number of years. A recent winner of the audience prize at the Heidelberger Frühling, he enjoys a growing reputation in Europe’s contemporary music circle. This recording features chamber works, played by the JACK and Calder quartets, Keith Kirchoff and the Dillon-Torquati duo. Seamlessly moving between instrumental and technology-augmented composition styles, Ryan Carter (b. 1980) is a composer to be watched! Raised in Wisconsin, Ryan holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory (BMus), Stony Brook University (MA), and New York University (PhD), where his teachers included Richard Hoffmann, Pauline Oliveros, Daniel Weymouth, Elizabeth Hoffman, and Matthias Pintscher. Ryan has pursued additional studies with Louis Andriessen and Gilius van Bergeijk at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (the Netherlands) and with Brad Garton at the Computer Music Center at Columbia University. Ryan is currently Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Hamilton College.
