“Aber die Liebe…” – an extremely interesting Brahms album dealing with the “metaphysical” Johannes Brahms, interested in religiosity and transcendence, with the Four Serious Songs Op.121, completed in 1896, as the pivotal point. The transcription of this work for voice and string quartet by Jean-Pierre Moeckli gives the project a special charm. A “triple” Brahms, so to speak: once in the combination of voice and piano, then in the combination of voice and string quartet and once with selected solo works for piano.
