  1. To be a witness of the work of such a giant of musical sensibility and intellect such as Celibidache is a true joy. Thank you, Mr. Whatever for making it possible.

  2. Thank you Watever for sharing this and give me the opportunity to share, in return, my thoughts inspired by your post:

Together with his Müncher Philharmoniker, Sergiu Celibidache had a great contribution in both preserving some of the old good traditions and defining a quite different quality standard in classical music interpretation. Instead of making any comment about this box set, I would recommend to anybody interested in this subject, who does not heard yet the Celibidache sound, to read this article

    http://www.nytimes.com/1998/03/15/arts/recordings-view-the-reticent-high-priest-of-munich.html?pagewanted=3&src=pm

It was published soon after EMI released the first box from the official series that reveals some of the recording preserved in the Müncher Philharmoniker archives. At that time it does not included all Beethoven’s and Brahms’s symphonies and German Requiem, released in a separate box, later on.

Despite the fact I fully acknowledge the maestro strong believe, scientifically demonstrated in all his teachings, that that a listener could not obtain a “transcendental experience” outside of the concert hall, over the time I’ve collected all his officially released recordings that completely transformed my poor understanding and refined my perceptions about music.

That’s why I believe that, for any music lover, listening to those … musical impressions … it might be “a life changing experience”. The recordings were painstakingly mastered to retain and recreate, as much as it is technically possible, the vibrancy and impact of Celibidache and the Müncher Philharmoniker’s live performances.

Then, please consider buying those box-sets, while they are still available at a bargain price (as compared with the first releases) on amazon. As the profit raised by selling those box-sets goes to Celibidache Stiftung, it is a great opportunity for everyone to support some handicapped and under-privileged children and families but also some young musicians.
